I guess I would recommend the FSF, SLFC, EFF, or his/her favorite distro (of
course, one that ships the latest version of gDesklets :)).  It comes to
mind the court case(s) that are supported by some people from some of these
organizations that help OSS in general.
The only direct support the the gDesklets project needs (that I can think
of) is hosting, version control, and bug tracking, all of which we have now
for no cost (AFAIK).
