Some webmail clients support selective quoting, e.g. by selecting a
block of text before hitting Reply (which is how Evolution does it).
Gmail used to do this but doesn't any more, unfortunately. For those
that don't, extraneous material should be removed manually, for example
headers and signature lines in the quoted message.
