    That looks ike a 'maildir' file.

If you had, say, 500 emails in a  'maildir' Inbox, then you would have
500 of those files.

On the other hand, if your Inbox was in 'mbox' format, then you would
have one file containing 500 chunks of text - each corresponding to one
of those 500 maildir files.
