[Evolution] Mail Notification and PulseAudio

What is the status (or trick) of getting the Mail Notification Plugin to
work with PulseAudio instead of ESD?  I've read everything I can find
via Google, but not having much luck in this specific area/plugin.  I've
followed the Wiki: http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup to get
the esdcompat linked correctly, but still not having much luck.  If this
is not the right place to ask such a question, please feel free to send
me off in the right direction.  Would really appreciate any kind of hint
or status, or anything.

This is running on a Linux From Scratch system, with Gnome 2.22.3.
