There is, and it's implicit in my reply. Visit a folder, select all
messages (Ctrl-A) and filter them (Ctrl-Y).
However your original question was on how to apply filters to "all my
existing mail" (i.e. not just to a single folder), hence the extra step
of defining a search folder.
