OK. I tried to answer all of your questions as best as I could as you
requested......

I vaguely recall this was a problem because debian was shipping a
different version of libgnomeprint for evolution than the rest of gnome.

what does that mean? mails, calendars, contacts, everything? what do you
see in the print preview? what if you try to "print" to a pdf? which
evolution version is this, which debian version? which gnome version?

Print Preview looks normal. (I see the email I want to print there.)
Print doesn't work from mail, calendars, contacts but I CAN print a
PDF!!!!

I am using Evolution version 2.0.4 with Debian Stable and GNOME 2.8.3.

also check the fonts you use, e.g. you cannot see the body text if you
use bitmap fonts (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302904).
evolution's email body fonts and their sizes are stored at the gconf
directory "/apps/evolution/mail/display/fonts".
gconf is a kind of registry for gnome. you can edit gconf graphically by
using "gconf-editor" or at the shell by "gconftool-2".

I see Monospace 12 for the font at /apps/evolution/mail/display/fonts
in gconf.

Chris

P.S. It is odd that I can print to a PDF but NOT to a printer. I CAN
print to a printer from Firefox.
