Well you only have to do it once.

Some of those look kind of unrelated, but chances are you'll need half of them to do anything anyway so i guess thats just the way it is.  I suspect it is actually dragging in dev dependencies to do the build of eds, not to use it.

To install the packages evolution-dev & evolution-data-server-dev
(on a Debian system), apt-get wants to install 51 other packages.

(If I want just evolution-data-server-dev, it's "only" 25 extra
