My problem was solved by switching to 1st runlevel, deleting whole /tmp content and back to 5th runlevel, from then it's OK. Strange, i know.
probably had something to do with ORBit's IPC socket or some such then? For a while (not sure if it is still a problem?), ORBit would start to have issues if it's IPC socket hadn't been cleaned up in a while and recreated/restarted.
