Re: [Evolution] Setup problems with Exim + maildir + Evo.

Have you expanded the account on the folder view?

Mail in maildir stores isn't moved into the evolution space on purpose, it just stays in the maildir area.

I've been using Evolution with mbox format mail for ages - works well.

I've set up a new machine - with Gentoo. I have emerged exim and
evolution - both are up to date (according to gentoo). I am trying to
use maildirs instead of mbox - but can't seem to get evolution to read
the e-mail..

exim is...220 posix.co.za ESMTP Exim 4.34 Thu, 08 Jul 2004 14:13:45

The 'local delivery' section of the config file looks like...

local_delivery:
  driver = appendfile
  directory = /var/spool/mail/$local_part/
  maildir_format
  delivery_date_add
  envelope_to_add
  return_path_add

Files in this area look like....

# find /var/spool/mail
/var/spool/mail
/var/spool/mail/mje
/var/spool/mail/mje/tmp
/var/spool/mail/mje/new
/var/spool/mail/mje/cur
/var/spool/mail/mje/cur/1088760502.H748467P16793.posix.co.za:2,
/var/spool/mail/mje/cur/1088760784.H586776P16839.posix.co.za:2,
[stuff deleted]
/var/spool/mail/mje/cur/1089241941.H258817P13568.posix.co.za:2,
/var/spool/mail/mje/cur/1089265802.H706565P28714.posix.co.za:2,
/var/spool/mail/mje/..ev-summary

Evolution says... Ver 1.4.6 (Clicking on the [Help] button)

Under tools-->settings-->mail accounts... I have a single account..
Under receiving mail - I have chosen... Maildir-format mail directories
(for storing local mail in maildir directories) and set the Path to
"/var/spool/mail/mje".

As far as I can see - this appears to be the right thing to do - but
clicking on [Send&Receive] does nothing... (I get no e-mail) yet I'm
curious as to why email from 'new' somehow moves to 'cur' in the spool
directory.... and what is that file '..ev-summary' ???

Please someone - what am I doing wrong?

The FAQ has no clues, the Mailing List archive over the last few months
gives no clues...

If I use mbox and have a standard mbox in /var/spool/mail - it works...
but I'd prefer to use maildirs.
