Well, apparently I munged it up as I've descended even further.  Playing
with the font settings for HTML Viewer I've managed to first render the
header area blank and now finally all mail is just a grey header (blank)
followed by a blank white area.

Any suggestions?  What is the default font (there's no "restore
defaults" button in the HTML viewer settings)?
