This was mentioned earlier in the thread.  It's bug #35162, and it's
fixed in CVS (both the 1.2 branch and HEAD).

Run killev then run wombat in a separate terminal and restart
evolution.  You should see debug spew in the wombat window when you try
to autocomplete against the ldap server.

Shouldn't need it - do normal searches on the ldap server work?
