[Evolution] USENET News support?

I recall v. 0.06 made an attempt at working with NNTP. I also recall it
would be shelved until v. 1.0 was released.  Is it in development again,
or abandoned, or just plain limbo?

I see in ~/evolution/config/News the information I entered a year ago. 
Is this cruft from a year of dirty installations?
