Sounds like a qmail configuration problem. 

Check /var/qmail/control/* and make sure things are in order.

Also check from the command line to make sure it's the MTA and not evo.

"echo to: address bad_domain com | /var/qmail/bin/qmail-inject"

check the maillog for results.
