This currently cannot be done.

I'm not even sure which extension to SMTP that this is. Is it the AUTH
extension to SMTP? Or some other extension?

There are 2 things you could do to help me out:

1. Run Evolution from a terminal window and attempt to send an email with
it. This should write a bunch of debug statements to the screen, if you
could send those to me it would be great.

2. Find out which extension to SMTP that digitalme uses. My guess is AUTH,
which is not yet supported but is in the TODO list (low priority at the
moment until I finish coding IMAP).
