Ok, I have done some testing.

Video fails:

     1. If I select h264 video starts, but the remote never displays the
        video from ekiga, ekiga shows a distorted local image and stderr
        fills up with error messages:
h264pipe_unix.cxx(232)  H264    IPC     PP: Failure on reading - terminating
h264pipe_unix.cxx(219)  H264    IPC     PP: Error when closing UL named pipe
h264pipe_unix.cxx(234)  H264    IPC     PP: Received EOF - terminating

     2. If I select h261 video never starts up. (Perhaps my endpoint
        does not support h261)
     3. If I select h263-1998 video never starts up.

How do I get the ffmpeg based 263 codec to work?

I can supply -d 4 logs if required.
