Hi Peter,
NewShape.dia references an object that is not part of the Dia
distribution. Thus it does not open
correctly. for me.

"other grafic elements" - did you embed bitmap images in your shape
(i.e. did you use the Image object)?
I cannot recommend embedding images as you have to be very careful
about getting the references right.
The following workaround might help you: Instead of wrapping your
images into shapes, consider to distribute
the images themselves.
