Hmm... ok. (I was using SuSE 9.1 btw).  I'll continue the discussion in
bugzilla once I get CVS compiled and can test it there.

I've just checked out the source, but I need to generate the file
'configure'. what's the command? Or maybe someone can point to where this
is documented.
