Possible, yes, but not practical.  The properties system takes most of the
work out of the dialogs (and loading and saving) -- notice how almost no
objects make their own dialogs (some do for defaults dialogs).  This gives
us a unified properties interface, much fewer bugs, and makes extensions
easier.
