Sounds sufficent to me.
We do need a solution to this. This style of deployment is common
in large installations. You never just upgrade an existing app.
The new app is installed in a testing place, and eventually the old
app is moved to a compatibility slot and the main entry is replaced
with the new version. Don't think of it as gnumeric/mozilla stable
vs alpha. Think about version 1.0.8 vs 1.2.0.
