I created a bug report on the issue, which you guys can find here: http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=82460
There's a managed version of MachineName there which I have created that works good for me. I would really like it if you tried it out and if we could merge it with trunk in case there's no problem with it.
