Adding options to Cheese

Hi everyone out there,

I need to add 2 options to cheese. These options may be permanent, so 
once compiled,  no need to change them during runtime.

1. option: Cheese makes a photo when the camera button is pressed. This 
works only if cheese has the focus. I need the button to work even if 
cheese runs in the background.

2. option: I need to reduce the quality of the photos saved in burst 
mode  (jpeg 30%) to make smaller files.

Where can I implement these two options in the source code ?
Can somebody kindly help me? I'm not very good in C !
