Streaming from Cheese?

Hi Cheese list,

Has anyone used Cheese or its core to capture video for optional 
streaming?  I've noticed that Cheese has much less latency when 
displayed to local host than certain other video streaming capable apps 
and was wondering if cheese might be an alternative option.
