Re: [Banshee-List] ipod recognition

There are lots of sloppy ways to get around this, but the cleanest and most
pain-free involves turning off auto-mounting of your devices. This means
that when you plug a device in - any device, ipod, camera, flash drive - the
file browser will show the device in the side column, but it won't mount the
device until you click on it. If you use lots of other devices, this might
be really annoying for you. This works for me on Ubuntu 9.10:

1. Open the Gnome Configuration editor (press Alt+F2, type gconf-editor,
press enter)
2. In the left column, click the arrow next to "Apps"
3. Scroll down, click the arrow next to Nautilus
4. Click 'preferences'
5. On the right side of the window scroll down to "media_automount"
6. Uncheck this box
7. Close the configuration editor
8. Plug in your iPod
9. Open your home folder
10. Click on your iPod in the left column - this will mount it and it should
now work in Banshee

Steps 1-7 only have to be done once. Once those are done, 8-10 will work
every time you want to use your iPod. Hope this helps.
