Removing support for old gtk2 versions.

Hello,

We consider cleaning up the old compatibility code, in particular the  
support for gtk2 versions older than 2.11. Is anybody around using  
older gtk versions? Or, to put the question differently, would the  
removal of such compatibility layer cause problems to anybody here?
