Imlib also allows you to save images back to disk.  Gdk-pixbuf does
not, afaik.

Err... am I mistaken?  Has the capability to write been added to
gdk-pixbuf?  I added the ability to write jpeg's myself, but I haven't
sent the patch in.  I will shortly, provided that no one else has
already done this (and most likely done a better job of it).

Imlib doesn't even work if you can't open an X connection to get it,
as far as I have been able to determine.
