Q: Porting apps to GTK

I have been looking around for quite some time for documentation or
information on GTK and GDK, but what I've found on http://www.gtk.org
doesn't exactly seem to be up to date, especially the gdk parts... does
anyone know of some documentation that is more recent or has anyone perhaps
some nice example of some easy programs that does more than saying hello
world? ;)

I'm planning on porting some programs to GTK and perhaps GNOME-ify them to
if I get that far.
