Well it sounds like setting an entry invisable in 1.1.x makes ****'s
show
up instead of the typed text.   So i won't be hacking around in the 
gtk source.

I sure hope that people realize the need for ease of use and a
consistent
interface for the user.   

all ideas about making 1-3 *'s show up for every key press isn't very
intuitive, 
and rearly needed.  If it is then im sure that can be done with signals
and callbacks.
