Odd. What do you mean by UTF-8 escape sequences? UTF-8 treated as
ISO8559-1? \x{1234}? Boxed numbers?

Haven't seen anything like this.

My mistake. I'm running on a Linux system I just built, and I forgot that the contents of /home on the drive I moved to the new system was out of date. It works fine with the right file...

People reported this; it is hopefully fixed with the filesel changes
in 1.3.12, though I didn't see it before, so I don't know for sure.

I see that there's a newer version of filesel.c than the one I built with; I'll pull over the latest and see if it gets better.
