It's quite simpel, you get the source package, of the module you want to translate
ex. gnome-core.tar.gz.

Then you "tar zxvf" it, and go into the gnome-core directory run ./configure

then you go into the po directory and copy the gnome-core.pot file to yourlanguage.po
ex for danish = da.po.  Then you translate the sentences in this file, and upload the
file to cvs. Next time you get the package from cvs you do the same,
but instead of copying the gnome-core.pot file to yourlanguage.po, you just
type make update-po.

Then you can edit you yourlanguage.po, which now is merget with the gnome-core.pot,
this means the new lines to translate is in the yourlanguage.po file
