continued problems with gnopernicus

Well, I installed flite and Festival and  apparently that stopped 
gnopernicus from using dectalk; I didn't look to see what was being used, 
probably festival. Seemed awfully repetitive though which made it hard to 
tell where I was. anybody else have this problem?

Still can't get braille to work. It appears that I have everything set 
right, both when i look at where I am in the combo boxes and when I check 
my gconf keys, but I still get "braille device can not be initialized". 
I'm definitely at an impasse here.
