The gnome-common modules from CVS provides the gnome-autogen.sh script
(which will live in ${prefix}/bin/). So I would guess that you do not
have gnome-common. If you have installed GNOME from tarballs, you will
not have this module, since it is only required for building from CVS,
so is not distributed as a tarball or packaged by any distribution. You
will need to get the module from the GNOME CVS repository.

If you _do_ have gnome-common installed, then something is wrong with
your paths (I don't know what 'go_gnome' is, so I cannot offer specific
hints in that regard).
