I guess I have two main questions:

1) How much of this mockup is just to provide some sort of direction on
the kinds of things we'd like to do versus being a concrete goal?

2) If the mockup is more of a concrete goal, the implications for the
existing codebase are huge; it doesn't seem to me that we can preserve a
whole lot.  Do you agree with that?
