[xslt] RE:ISO-8859-1 problem

It doesn't work for me. 

My XML file (in a string) has the enconding specified in the first line as ISO-8859-1.

I don't know why it doesn't work: if I use xsltproc all is ok. Is it possible to indicate le encoding of the input file? I have the sensation that the encoding isn't read. Is it possible?

All latin1 character are bad trasformed and printed.
