You should have read the links I provided. I was the guy who added the
setting (gconf key, that is) to libgnome. It still lacks xsetting
integration and application adoption (panel/metacity), though. The
reason that I didn't nag the maintains to commit those patches is that
I'm not sure whether it's the right approach and want to be sure about
it before having a half-assed concept in GNOME that users don't like.
Also you could point me out to the extensive discussion you're referring
to.
