No, they are simple references to URIs stored in ~/.gtk-bookmarks. These
URIs appear (inter alia) in the FileChoosers in addition to the mounted
volumes.
It is organized like "URI_1\nURI_2\n...URI_m-1\nURI_m". Note that not
all people are happy about it [1] because it doesn't allow to associate
a name with a bookmark, except by using cracky symlinks, which only
works for local folders.
