[Usability] Gnome desktop panel question

Hi,

I am running gnome 2.2.2 on a SUSE 9.0 system. I was wondering if there
was any way that I could create a menu ( like the Main menu ) on a
desktop panel.

I would like to create a menu and put in scripts that I wrote as the
items in the menu. I would like to have these menu items identifiable
by labels and not just icons.

I remember in Red Hat 7.0 there was a way to create a menu and add it to
a panel and then add other menus to this menu or add scripts.

Right now, the only thing that I see to do this is to create a drawer.
I do not like the way the drawer works. The main thing is that it only
shows icons. The icons do not show their labels. I can move my mouse
over the icons and find the label that way but this can be time
consuming when I want to find the script I want. All the scripts do is
open up a connection to another server. I have a lot of servers to
maintain and log into so to have to search for a specific icon (which I
do not have the time or the patience to create an icon for each system)
is not productive.

If anyone has any comments or questions or solutions please let me know.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
