Just remember there are a lot of people out there that use their home
directory as their desktop with Nautilus. So adding even more
non-dotfiles that dont make sense to the user is not good.

Having the "Documents", "Pictures" and "Music" or whatever common
folders for user files would be useful though, so that file selectors
would have shortcuts for these as well. And nice for new users as a
suggestion on where to store their files.

But just keep config stuff in a .dot-directory, so they do not pop up on
the desktop. One shouldnt poke around there with Nautilus anyway.
