Yeah, xmms doesn't really integrate with the environment. One thing
I've seen on Windows, MacOS X and MacOS Classic for floating windows
that shouldn't take a lot of space is a miniature title bar that's not
as tall and has smaller versions of the usual buttons and text. I have
seen this used in inappropriate contexts (for instance the Force Quit
window on OS X has one, but that's certainly not something people are
likely to keep up all the time and it's a pretty large window in the
first place). But it's really great for pallette type windows and
would probably work well for low-real-estate media player type
programs.
