The issue is that the pairing occurs before checking the exif data in the
import system in Shotwell.  So we'd be hitting the disk twice for exif
data.  Modifying the order of operations would require heavy re-writing of
the import system, something we don't have time for at the moment.

That said, if you're going to work on optimizing libexif, don't let me stop
you!
