I would actually think speed is not the highest priority nowadays. 
Either get a new computer or leave it runnning during the night.

I prefer features to speed, unless it's really really slow. But in that 
case it's an optimization issue.

Anyway, why should it be that slow? Is the EXIF extraction that is slow 
or what? Maybe I can try to optimize it? Can you point me at the 
relevant piece of code or library? (is it libexif?)
