[Rhythmbox-devel] ID3 tag synchronisation problem on mp3 files

Hi again,

I'm posting a link to another bug in the hope of bringing a quirk I've
noticed to a wider audience to test.  I've been having problems with
writing mp3 ID3 tags using rhythmbox.  Basically tagging works OK
once, but upon retagging, the track reverts to it's old tag.

Digging deeper it appears that multiple tags are being appended to the
file (this can be seen when viewing the underlying strings in the
binary file) rather than replacing the old tags.  rhythmbox is only
using the original tags, while other applications (such as easytag,
tagtool etc. read the latest).  I suspect the underlying problem might
be in gstreamer and/or the libid3tag backend library that goes the
libmad mp3 plugin.  I'm curious to see if anybody else can reproduce
this bug and/or might have a better sense for where the the underlying
cause might lie:
