Hello folks,
The other night every PC on my home network rebooted while I was in the
land of nod. It wasn't the Sasser virus because two of them are linux
boxes, and the microwave reset itself as well - and I'm sure there's no
Microsoft software in that! My gentoo linux box had rhythmbox open at
the time, and when I brought them all up in the morning I found that all
the music tracks I had imported from my Red Hat server machine had
disappeared from the library. Needless to say, when I imported them
again all the tag information (including play count, ratings, etc.) had
disappeared. I'm running rhythmbox 0.8.1, which is the latest
available on gentoo. When I try importing all the tracks in /mnt/music
at once at some point the program crashes - I haven't identified where,
but there are some wma files in the collection. Could this be a
problem? Is there any procedure for recovering lost metadata of this sort?
Derrick
