Re: [Rhythmbox-devel] [PATCH] add --shuffle option

Question: should these sort of things be done by a "remote control"
type script using the bonobo interface?

I mean, the average Rhythmbox user (or maybe it's the simplest person
who could be using rhythmbox) would probably be afraid of a command
line. This is somewhat of a niche need. You could write a brief python
script (last time I checked) to take care of this or you could write a
general purpose rhythmbox-remote script to handle all sorts of rhythmbox
operations from play-control to gathering information by exposing the
bonobo interface to the command line. I remember tinkering with this
when gDesklets was released, but haven't looked at it since, so this may
be a bit off base now.

Anyway, I thought I'd throw this out there before we start getting into
"Rhythmbox really needs a --delete-all-skynard-tracks-please-god option
to be useful to me, because if I accidently hear 'Sweet Home Alabama' at
work, there is a good chance I might kill my cubicle cohabitant." type
discussion. The bonobo bits (should) allow us to conjure up the logic
that makes rhythmbox useful to our sometimes esoteric, but justifiable
needs.
