I still think the shot at http://people.nl.linux.org/~jorn/b.png is the

Oh, and I just had a crazy idea about loading feedback. The only
example I can think of where it would really be necessary to have a
progress bar is when buffering internet radio streams but not playing.
For other uses - eg, loading library, reading an audio cd - the HIG
compliant busy cursor would suffice. How about if the seek bar gets
changed into a progress bar while loading but not playing? It could
change colour and have an text indicator.
