If a user could create types of activites distinguished by behavior macro's
an 'alarm' activity might send email messages per an attached xml file. The
ability to have and use customizable fields is a feature second only to the
ability to calculate dates in usefulness to a scheduling program. The
fundamental nature of projects is that they cross management boundries and my
experiance is that what one manager wants, another despises: the ability to
maintain various reporting systems depends on customizable fields.
I would like to recommend the book _Project Management for the 21st Century_
: Lientz & Rea for a very compact presentation of practicalities in working
schedules.
