This error shows up, if and only if you call remote operation with 
NULL-Object,
please verify operation string_to_object returns valid binary object 
reference.

My feeling is, the content of ~/ior.ref is not read completely,
please can you change the implementation of *name-resolve-server.c so 
that it prints read content to terminal,
