significance of argc,argv in CORBA_ORB_init

Hi,
I was wondering what was the significance of argc and argv for those 
applications which do not directly pass the server IOR from the command 
line. My application reads the IOR from a file (into which the server writes 
the IOR). For this case, would it be ok if i pass dummy values as argc, argv 
in CORBA_ORB_init ()??
