Subject: Orbit - ORB - launch question.
Classification: Restricted
Hi Orbit list!
Could you please give me an answer of the following question:
I strongly advise to get a copy of the OMG CORBA (2.0, 2.1, ...) specification.
Another nice source of information (if you can find it), is Linux Journal May, June,
July 1999. There are three articles about CORBA on Linux, but since CORBA
is platform independent.
Now for your questions.
- is the orbit ORB able to run as service (winnt) or deamon (linux)?
An ORB is NOT an independent process. A basic ORB (Corba Core) is just a set of libraries
which implement the needed communication between objects. Additional services
(like the Naming Service and the Interface Repository) can be implemented as servers.
