Re: A little trouble starting the applet...

With Ubuntu NM is customized to not manage any devices in /etc/interfaces.  Try commenting out your wireless card there and see if it works.

Hello everyone:

I'm wondering if could you give me a clue what's happening with my
Network Manager (actually it's a great soft :D).

My distro:
        -Ubuntu Dapper 6.06
My packages and versions:
        -gnome-common 2.12.0-1
        -2.6.15-22-386
        -wireless-tools 27+28pre13-1ubuntu2 x
        -network-manager 0.6.2-0ubuntu6
        -network-manager-gnome 0.6.2-0ubuntu6
My problem:
        -I got "No network devices have been found"
        -I've been searching on Google and I found something about changing the
policy in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/nm-applet.conf.
My nm-applet-conf:
        -I changed user="root" to user="gohan".
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
<!DOCTYPE busconfig PUBLIC
        "-//freedesktop//DTD D-BUS Bus Configuration 1.0//EN"
        "http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/dbus/1.0/busconfig.dtd ">
<busconfig>
        <policy user="gohan">
                <allow own="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>

                <allow
send_destination=" org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>
                <allow
send_interface="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>
        </policy>
        <policy at_console="true">
                <allow own="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>

                <allow
send_destination="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>
                <allow
send_interface="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>
        </policy>
        <policy context="default">
                <deny own="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>

                <deny
send_destination="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>
                <deny
send_interface="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo"/>
        </policy>
</busconfig>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Running NetworkManager I have something like this:
root gohan:/etc/dbus-1/system.d# NetworkManager --no-daemon
NetworkManager: <information>   starting...
NetworkManager: <WARNING>        main (): nm_data_new: Setting up dbus
filter
NetworkManager: <information>   Updating allowed wireless network lists.
NetworkManager: <WARNING>        nm_dbus_get_networks_cb ():
nm-dbus-nmi.c:522 (nm_dbus_get_networks_cb): error received:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied - A security policy in place
prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see
message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface
"org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo" member "getNetworks" error name
"(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo").

I have no idea was coming on... :S

Sorry if my English is pretty bad, I'm Spanish speaker.

Thank you for your help!!!

Omar Alva.
