web doc error? - kernel-2.6.12 + Airport is BROKEN

According to
http://live.gnome.org/NetworkManagerHardware
old 802.11b Airport works fully with kernel 2.6.12 and above.  That's
not right - I just installed Ubuntu (with 2.6.12), and I'm here to say
Airport couldn't browse / scan networks until I built the orinoco
driver from cvs.

That was kinda hairy though, so I think I'll change kernels again to
2.6.15.4.  I'll let you know how that goes.
